Consider the sights, sounds, smells, tastes and textures that our sensate bodies offer us in a single day—and don’t forget what our hands and feet do to connect us to the earth and to each other. Then consider the stories we tell ourselves, stories to make sense of it all.
In a spirit of relaxation and playful ease, Sandra offers a mix of poems, images and writing exercises that spark awareness of the dynamics of your body/mind with memory and imagination and that lead you into writing spontaneous free-fall writing. In this way you’ll discover and write your unique stories that come from within. Who knows, you may even see anew. It’s all about process, not performance.
For those who want to delve more deeply into their spontaneous writing, each class includes instruction in key aspects of the craft of story writing.

We’ll practice yoga daily, and experiment with a variety of relaxed reflective writing exercises to discover our own stories within our experiences Also we’ll read, hike, tour, photograph, stretch, breathe the fresh air and soak in geo thermal pools.

A Spring Tonic: Writing The Body
At Swallow's Bridge Retreat, Alton, ON. This workshop is for creators at every stage looking for inspiration for new work. Are you a writer, songwriter, dancer, visual artist, teacher or simply a curious explorer? Come and play with words, exercises and ideas that will inspire new work, both large and small. Come to your senses In a beautiful rural setting. You'll relax, breathe, explore what you see, smell, hear, taste and touch. Marie Rahmen will lead us in gentle yoga exercises for ease and relaxation. Then Sandra offers poems, images and exercises (indoors and out) to awaken your senses, your memories and imagination. The outcome is new material to work into your unique stories, poems, songs, images - or simply new memories. Our focus is all about process and NOT performance. |
Summer Yoga Retreat with Reflective Writing
with Monica Voss and Sandra Campbell In cooperation with Esther Yoga Yoga is a reflective practice. Its many techniques encourage us to feel, ponder, observe, remember and assess. Join Monica on a weekend devoted to enriching mind and body connections with days full of yoga practice, breathing, walking, and meditation. Each evening Sandra will offer (optional) guidance and explorations in reflective writing. Open to all, especially those who wish to enrich their yoga experience with journalling, wordplay, poetry, and reflective writing. |
